Instructional Assistant for Integrated Preschool Classroom

 

Gateway Regional School District is looking for a dynamic early childhood Instructional Assistant to work in the integrated preschool classroom located at Littleville Elementary school.

 

The ideal candidate will be energetic, caring and be able to work as a team player.

 

Responsibilities include:

• Working with students with limited academic, behavioral and social skills and supporting young children with a broad range of abilities, including students with disabilities.
• Promoting independence, social skills, and language development
• Willingness to be flexible with job duties
• Ability to take feedback and instruction from classroom teacher and therapists
• Professionalism around confidentiality
• Ability to get up and down from the ground frequently throughout the day
• Assisting with toilet training and diaper changing
• Supervision of outdoor activities
• Limited cleaning and disinfection of the classroom; especially with snack set up
• Willingness to learn
• You may need to perform some additional duties such as supervision of recess, bus duty, etc. 
• This individual will provide coverage across two programs to ensure students with disabilities have the appropriate amount of support and services

 

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher preferred
• Coursework in early childhood education preferred
• Experience working with young children both with and without disabilities preferred
• Experience with or knowledge of children with Autism preferred
• Knowledge of sign language is a plus although not necessary
• Salary Range: $18.24-$29.18 dependent upon education, experience, and placement.
